SELENE 53-REDISCOVERY II Our cruising dreams in our retirement are coming true, with our wonderful new Selene trawler, Rediscovery II. But it all started in a random visit to a southern California yacht broker/dealer named Dream Catcher Yachts. Jane and I had been periodically looking for a cruising boat for our retirement, but had not been able to find anything that piqued our interest. On a morning in April 2005, we were visiting friends in Southern California, and happened to stop by Dream Catcher Yachts, where we met Michelle Anderegg. Michelle showed us a used Selene 53 in their stock, and I must admit it was love at first sight. But we had two years to our retirement. What should we do? Michelle patiently and expertly answered our questions that day, and in the ensuing months always had time for us….she made us feel that there really was a way to put wheels (or maybe I should say a keel) under our dreams. We made the decision to order a new boat so that it would be finished when we retired. In the boat ordering process, Michelle’s husband and business partner Zak directed the activity. Again we found that Zak and Michelle’s knowledge of boating and the process was outstanding. We developed detailed specifications for the boat, and over time these specs went through several minor revisions. Zak was very patient and explained alternatives very clearly so we could make informed choices as we went along. When we visited the shipyard in April of 2007, Zak was right there with us, interfacing expertly with us and the shipyard staff to resolve issues. About this time we met other Dream Catcher Yachts staff, and found them to be courteous and helpful as well. When the boat was delivered in July of 2007, Zak and Michelle were most helpful in gaining an understanding of the commissioning and outfitting process and resolving equipment and installation issues. Again they were both willing to take the time to help us “get it right”. The final result is a boat that we are extremely well satisfied with, plus we feel that we made a couple of nice friends in the process. We now recognize how critically important it is to have a competent dealer when you are buying a new boat. We would not hesitate to buy another boat from Zak and Michelle at Dream Catcher Yachts and would recommend them to others without hesitation. |

SELENE 53 "PAX NAUTICA" Purchasing our new Selene 53 was a wonderful experience for us. Zak and Michelle at Dream Catcher Yachts made the whole process manageable, educational, and in fact, great fun. We had images beforehand of a super-slick, manipulative yacht salesman who would home in on our lack of experience and move in for the kill! But the reality could not have been more different. Waiting for a new Selene is plenty of time to take the measure of a person, and we found in Zak a professionalism and a sense of ethics that are truly admirable. Both Zak and Michelle were so attentive and responsive; we got the sense at all times that our interests were their primary concern. And the process does not stop when your new boat arrives. Zak spent a tremendous amount of time coaching us on handling our Selene both in and out of the marina, getting us well informed and comfortable with the various complex systems aboard, and shepherding us through commissioning and outfitting. Today finds us simply over the moon with our new Selene. Thanks to Zak and Michelle, and the team at Dream Catcher Yachts, she is everything we hoped for and more. Now the real fun begins! |
