While this was a preliminary rendering of the back half of the 40, it accurately shows the placements of bulkheads, major tanks and engine room access. The lazarette is easily accessed by a cockpit hatch. Typical systems such as the retractable shorepower cable, batteries, freshwater tanks, steering system and AC crossover switch are located in this compartment. Plenty of space has been reserved for storage purposes.
Forward of the lazarette is a utility room which is accessed through the hinged flybridge stairway. This not only serves as the access point into the engine room but also serves as a weather-protected zone for the inverter/charger as well as the isolation transformer. The standard Reverso oil change system is located in the forward bulkhead. The optional trash compactor can be located on the aft bulkhead for cruising convenience. This space has over 6’ of headroom.
The engine room is accessed through the watertight door. This compartment is very neat and orderly. There is plenty of elbowroom for maneuvering around critical components. Saddle tanks are located low and on the boats center of gravity ensuring a consistent ride regardless of fuel level. The Northern Lights genset is mounted in the aft starboard corner.
